6-stars-image

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Badges

Here are the six badges for you to collect – you can either ‘swop’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times!

A Lovely Touch of Reality Awards

Life has been hectic since fall began and school has started.  There are many nights when I just do not have the time or the energy to write a blog post. I think many of us “postaday” bloggers are finding it difficult to meet the goal.  Therefore, it is heartwarming to me to find that even when I am not on target, I still have people who will read my musings and even take the time to nominate me for an award.

Cher over at Authentic Photography has graciously nominated Grandmother Musings for the REALITY BLOG AWARD and the LOVELY BLOG AWARD.  Cher is originally from Maine, but has recently moved to Lakeland, Florida with her husband.  Her photos are real and reflect her keen insight into everyday life.  Please go and visit Authentic Photography. You will enjoy her unique photo expressions.

These are five questions that Cindy passed on for the Reality Blog Award and that I have decided to answer for both awards:

1) If you could change something, what would you change?

I would change all the hatred in the world for other cultures and races.

2) If you could repeat an age, what age would it be?

I would repeat at 30.  I would tell my scared self that I am powerful and worthy of great things.

3) What one thing really scares you?

Losing someone, I love.

4) What one dream have you not completed yet and do you think you will be able to complete it.

One dream I have always had is to own a house on a lake.  I think it will eventually happen.

5) If you could be someone else for the day, who would you be?

I think it would be interesting to be the President or someone else in a high seat of power.  I have a feeling it is a lot more difficult to be in that position than I imagine.

I am nominating 10 wonderful blogs that have inspired me in some way. Please take the time to visit these sites and see what makes them so great.

There are no specific rules to these awards.  Each nominee is free to accept and do what he or she will with his or her award. It is my sincere hope that with this nomination each blog will know how much I appreciate and respect their work.  This nomination is for both the Reality Award and the One Lovely Blog award.

Blog Awards

It has been busy around Grandmother’s house the last few weeks with back to school, family visits, and weddings.  There have been days when I just could not go to my computer to post.  Nevertheless, while I was busy, good news was flowing in from Pat Wood  who has nominated Grandmother Musings for the One Lovely Blog Award.  I also received a badge that says 200 wonderful bloggers have been following Grandmother Musings.  I am constantly amazed that anyone, much less 200 followers, would read my musings.  It is humbling and an honor to know that I have reached that many people.

I wish to thank Pat for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award.  Pat’s blog–  PatWoodBlogging is a place for her to write and test out her desire to be a published novelist.  You can read her “gentle” short story, A Fairy Story that has been published in Woman’s Magazine.  She also has a few other stories,  Clean Death, A Taste of Death, and The Scent of Lavender available to her readers to peruse at their leisure.   This superbly written blog is worth a look and a comment.

Rules for the One Lovely Blog Award:

1.   Give credit to the awesome person who nominated you, and post the Award on your site.

2.   Describe 7 things about yourself.

3.   Nominate 15 other bloggers.

7 things about Grandmother Musings…

1.    Wrinkles on my clothes really bother me.  I iron and my new method is to use the  Wrinkle Release spray.  Surprisingly, the spray works on most fabrics and saves me ironing time in the morning.

2.   I never intend on being a gray-haired grandmother.  Why should we be gray?  There are plenty of colorings out there to avoid the gray taking over.

3.   My houseplants are always neglected in the winter. The plants always survive until summer break when I can pay attention to them.

4.   This weekend I went Disk Golfing for the first time.  I liked it, although, I had a score of 25 over par.  I figure I will have to get better if I keep at it. LOL!

5.   I once found a beautiful dress to wear to a wedding for $8.00. I will tell you about it, sometime.

6.   Reading glasses are ugly and I dislike wearing mine. Unfortunately, I seem to need them more every day.

7.   I love to drive!

The Liebster Award

I owe Terry1954 a great big hug for nominating Grandmother Musings for the Liebster Blog Award. When I first began blogging, I would read other blogger’s posts and wonder at all the awards posted. I wondered if I would ever receive an award.  In the spring, Terry1954 sent me a note saying that she had nominated me for the Sisterhood Award.  I was so excited that I called my husband at work to let him know that I had won an award.  Since then, I have been honored with several awards, and I owe it all to Terry for starting the blessings.

Please visit Terry at her blog.  She is a loving and beautiful woman who shares the highs and lows of life with her readers.  She affectionately cares for her brother, Al, with Parkinson’s disease. Terry also writes wonderful poems and stories to warm your heart. She is a very talented writer and blogger for whom you will want to follow.

The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. What is a Liebster? The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

So what do we have to do to show our appreciation?

  1. Answer the questions that the tagger set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.
  2. Choose 11 bloggers and link them in your post.
  3. Go to their page and tell them.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go, and why?

I would like to go to the Bahamas or some island paradise. I want to feel the warmth of the white sands in my toes, smell the ocean and the tropical flowers, and just relax.

What was your reason for starting a blog on WordPress?

My reason for starting a blog was to write. I have always been a writer, but was not practicing the craft. My blog gives me a place and a reason to write every day.

What is your most frequently visited blog and why?

20 lines or less is a blog I frequent often. I love to see what new challenges are posted.

Did you look at Freshly Pressed today? If so, which featured blog post did you like the most?

A newbie’s thoughts on the ‘like’ button by http://thoughtsofalunatic.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/a-newbies-thoughts-on-the-like-button/comment-page-2/#comment-364

Faith of the inspiring FaithRises Blog has graciously nominated Grandmother Musings for its second One Lovely Blog Award!  Faith’s blog uplifts her readers with biblical passages, stories and quotes.  It is an inspirational oasis in a difficult and challenging world. Go and take a peek at FaithRises and see for yourself.  Thank you, Faith for sharing the award with me and supporting my blog. I truly appreciate your kindness.

The rules for this award are as follows:

1.     Give credit to the awesome person who nominated you.

2.    Describe 7 things about yourself.

3.    Nominate 15 other bloggers.

7 things about me…

1.     I like to swim.

2.    The smell of liver and onions cooking makes me ill.

3.    My mailbox was painted, today.  It is red.

4.    When I have a thought about something I might wish to blog about, I write it in a file labeled “Blog Ideas.”

5.    Sometimes I think too much and drive myself crazy.

6.    Every time I have purchased a new couch, a dog has eaten it. L

7.    I know the Big Mac song by heart.  “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun!”  Ha!

I am nominating the following extraordinary bloggers for the One Lovely Blog Award.  The nominees, my newest followers, can decide whether they wish to accept or not…no strings attached.
